The Grubstake with Friends

Tuesday March 20
Lar and I took the car and set out to meet friends, Paul and Gail for lunch in Quartzsite, AZ

Tell the truth, would you stop here for lunch?
Well, if the answer is a decided "no!"  you'd be making a mistake!

Lar's lunch - a foot long piece of fabulous fish - with chips - says it might be the best he's ever eaten!

Had a great reunion with these terrific friends...good food....and
 Lar had some fun too!
If you are ever in the area - we recommend you check the Grubstake out.  We had just the best day - driving in the desert, eating with friends and having some great laughs.

Thank God, for Arizona In splendid sunshine dressed.*

Monday, March 19
Atypical weather - we seem to be able to make it rain - even in the desert!
Actually, the change in the weather was almost welcome - we were happy to be there in at least two of the moods of this gorgeous state.

Took a scenic ride

And found a hill to climb!

Nearly to the top

A quick pause to refresh

Going up - chilly     Coming down, it got really warm!

At just about the top.

That's the "hill" we hiked

Welcome to Arizona, where summer spends the winter - and hell spends the summer. ~Popular saying

Well, that may be true, I guess it is, but we were there for the winter - and it was Heaven!
The Black Mountain had a veil on March 18.

And then she threw it off put on her dark dress and the sky was filled with blue - frosted with the whitest clouds.

The golf course

Then we had a double rainbow

And finally, the world turned gold.

Game Night!

Clue

Pick up sticks

Don't have a picture, but I played Jacks and got to foursies

And we'll never forget the approximately 1,248 times we heard these birds!
