thanks to Irene we got a lot of exercise without going to the gym! But within a couple of hours we had pretty much all the little branches and leaves picked up and on the curb.
And then I came up with a couple of answers to the question I'd been asked by a fellow farmer: "what do you do with acorn squash?"
CUT IN HALF, CLEANED OUT AND FACE DOWN ON A COOKIE SHEET FOR ABOUT AN HOUR IN THE OVEN THEN ALL THE PULP SCRAPED OUT INTO A BOWL |
A CUP AND ONE HALF WENT INTO THESE LOVELY TEA CAKES. THE REST INTO A CASSEROLE WITH HONEY, A LITTLE BROWN SUGAR AND BUTTER AND BAKED ABOUT 20 MINUTES. |
