29 July 2017 Midsomer Mystery Tour

As we are really big fans of Midsomer as well as other BBC offerings, we were delighted to note we could book a day tour of the various locations where so many are filmed.  This tour was going to take me out into the country side of England, thatched cottages, tipsy tombstones, roses and all!  I was more than excited – and the tour did not disappoint.  Tour company
Starting in London we headed to the towns and villages of Midsomer situated across several English counties including Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire that have played a role in more than 250 suspicious deaths over the years in the first eight series alone.
We saw fairy-tale houses, ancient churches, cosy pubs, charming village greens, quaint stores and grand houses that feature prominently in the magical but rather deadly county of Midsomer. We got behind the scenes information about the show, revealing fascinating details about the historical places we visited that have appeared in numerous episodes.
The tour was to  finish at Holland Park tube station.  However, due to enormous traffic snarls because of a biking tournament, it was announced near the end that we would be finishing at another location.  We were a bit panicked as we have never used their tube system.  Can you believe it, the guide, Caroline, said that we could accompany her as she was going to take the same train. She helped us purchase our passes (felt very fish-out-of-water!) and rode on one leg of the trip with us.  We were a bit nervous when she left us on our own for the second train, and it turned out she had actually chosen the wrong location for us!  I was suspicious as we disembarked, and sure enough, we were about a mile off!  We walked from that station to our hotel.

July 28, 2017 London

We had the absolute pleasure of taking another trip this past summer to the UK as well as to Spain, Portugal and France.  For 39 days we toured, pretty much non-stop and met the most wonderful people along the way.

July 28 found us on a day long bus tour of London.  This was an in-depth tour and we saw a great many things we have not seen before.  The tour was really excellent, and the guide was perfect.

Did you ever visit the Tower of London?  If not, have you always thought of it as A Tower?  We were so surprised to discover it is much more a "community of towers."
