Tour Day 23, Monday, August 21, 2017

There is a palpable feeling of almost sadness or nostalgia wafting through the bus as we near the end of our tour.  It is so amazing to think of the closeness we have developed with everyone.  It truly feels like family, and it seems almost incomprehensible that we will possibly never see each other again when our tour is done.

Our trip today takes us on a leisurely ride with time in the morning for a seafront promenade stroll or a walk to browse along The Lanes, a quaint area of narrow streets known for their antique shops.

Seriously, how fun are these buildings?

Finally, took a scenic route to Royal Tunbridge Wells, pausing for lunch in that picturesque spa town.

And on back to London at about 3 PM.

That evening we had opted to attend a play, The Dream Girls, at the Savoy in London.  The Savoy Theater, is a London West End theater on the Strand in the City of Westminster. It has a seating capacity of 1,158. The theater, opened on 10 October 1881, was built by Richard D'Oyly Carte (1844 - 1901) on the site of the old Savoy Palace in London as a showcase for the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, which became known as the Savoy Operas as a result.
We had originally been looking forward to this outing, but in light of the fact that it would be our last evening together with Jude, Glenn and others, we were less than excited when the time came.

The Savoy...the site of the worst play we have ever seen.  It was really quite a downer.  The long bus ride to the theater, and then back to our hotel didn't help at all.
